Things to Do

Downtown Golden

Picture of Downtown Golden

Historic downtown Golden is the heartbeat of the city where the wedding will be held. With its vibrant streets nestled between several mountain scapes, Golden is more than a former gold-rush-era town from the 1850s. Today the town boasts a number of outdoor activities, summer events, and is home to the original Coors factory. Check out some of our favorites while taking in the natural beauty and classic Western architecture.

Explore Clear Creek

Often referred to as the heart of Golden, the Clear Creek Trail follows the Colorado River from the foothills, down into the town. With options to walk, bike, or swim through the city while surrounded by picturesque mountains, exploring the trail is Squirt's favorite summertime activity.

We Recommend: Going tubing!

There are rental places around town. We love going tubing in the summer, it's a blast. Bonus points if you bring your own beer.

Enjoy Local Breweries

Golden is the world’s biggest little beer town, brewing more beer than any other city on the planet. True to its Wild West roots, the town is home to saloons, taverns, breweries, distilleries and wine bars. Many breweries offer tours, samples, and food trucks.

Golden is also home to the original Coors factory. This is the largest single-site brewing facility in the world and has been operational since 1873. Tours are available daily to learn about the history of brewing one of the world's most recognizable beers.

We Recommend: The Golden Mill

This unique dining experience includes self-pour stations that allow you to sample a rotating roster of local beers, wine, ciders, and house-made cocktails as well as a number of food vendors. We love to sit on the dog-friendly patio and enjoy a drink on a hot summer night.

Take A Hike

No trip to Colorado would be complete without exploring our gorgeous mountains. Golden has access to many hiking trails and national parks, including Golden Gate Canyon State Park and Red Rock State Park.

Beware of altitude sickness. If you're coming from sea level, make sure to take it easy with outdoor activities for a few days. Altitude sickness can affect anyone. Some symptoms to look out for include; headaches, nausea, fatigue, and shortness of breath. If you experience any of these symptoms, make sure to rest and descend from where you are. Drink lots of water and take supplemental oxygen, which is available at most convenient stores in Colorado.

We Recommend: Downloading the app "Alltrails".

This is an app that will recommend local hikes in the area based on how long the hike is, how difficult it is, and give you tips like where to park and the best time of day to experience the trail.
